Featured among the 21 best examples selected worldwide in an international building biology book published by the Swiss-based prestigious publishing house Birkhäuser, the project realization came to life with the principles of permaculture and building biology.

The gardener’s house, one of the two structures comprising the project, was built to adapt to the existing slope without harming the natural texture of the land, which features dense vegetation. Featuring one bedroom and a living area with an open kitchen, it offers a compact and functional design within a minimal space. Vertical wooden elements surrounding the facade act as shading devices on the windows, restricting the harsh summer sunlight from entering. Thanks to the strategic positioning and design of the building, it maximizes the cooling effects of natural cross-ventilation generated at night. Rainwater collected from the single-slope concealed roof is stored via a rainwater harvesting system and used for garden irrigation.

The guest house conceptualized within the scope of the project consists of two bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom and independent entrance. Featuring a stepped layout that mimics the natural slope and terraced topography of the land, the structure is positioned 3-meters elevated from the ground to protect it against heavy rainfall and high humidity during the winter and spring months. Detached from the main mass in the architectural configuration, the roof design functions as a passive climate control tool that prevents accumulated heat on the roof from transferring to the interior and optimizes indoor climate comfort.

In the buildings featuring a timber skeleton structural system, reed panels were used for wall insulation, while natural perlite was used for roof and floor insulation. Paper panels, preferred for interior wall finishes and applied here for the first time in Turkey, were completed with chemical-free natural paints and beeswax polishes, ensuring that the space breathes completely.
