I have done projects in Europe with the focus on the closing of the chain for bio-based products. One of the principles that I use, is to make optimal use of the own properties of materials for the function that they are applied within. Make use of the invention power of nature as much as possible. Both closing the circle and make use of the special properties of bio-based materials are coming perfectly together in the bio-based circular economy.
To accelerate the transition to a sustainable society I’m founder and board member of Stichting Agrodome. Setting up projects with relevant stakeholders as demonstration or research projects to improve the market position of ecological building products. And I’m involved in Life Cycle Assessments for ecological materials, assessing and improving rules and regulations in the building sector.
Besides this I’m still involved in forestry projects in the Netherlands and Hungary as active board member of Stichting Robinia, European quality wood for a sustainable environment.

But focussing on only one of the many beautiful natural materials did not feel right for me, I wanted more. So back to the whole scope of bio-based and natural building materials and circular building methods. Healthy living is an important part of this for me. Benefit form the qualities, the good properties of natural materials. So to enforce this I also graduated as a Building Biologist at the Institut für Baubiologie + Nachhaltigkeit.

His passion for continuous learning and self-improvement materialized in 2017 when he successfully completed the Koç University Building Leaders, Leading Future program. In 2020, he completed his master's degree in Lighting at Haliç University and reinforced her expertise in the field of lighting.
His entrepreneurial spirit gained a new dimension in 2021 when he took part in the establishment of the Natural Building Materials and Methods Association-DYMD. As one of the founding members of this association, he pioneered important studies on sustainable construction and building materials.
Ziya Doruk carries out intensive academic work on lighting and energy efficiency and contributes to international congresses with his articles. He is the executive of the multidisciplinary study on 'Human-Oriented Lighting and Its Effects in Retail Merchandising', which was initiated within Tübitak in 2020 and is still ongoing. This study is an important attempt to understand the relationship between lighting and human health and comfort.
Ziya Doruk, who continues his R&D studies in the fields of architecture, lighting, energy, sustainability and natural building materials, is also one of the partners of Placebo Originals and Sus-Rnd startups. These initiatives aim to offer new solutions in innovation and sustainability.
In addition to leading the business world, Ziya Doruk also helps shape the lighting and sustainable construction industry of the future by making significant contributions in the academic field.
Designer featured in the Istanbul selection of the Adorno International platform for collectible design, her patent-pending concrete shells system Alveosis in collaboration with Fibrobeton and UA has been presented in IASS, MIT, and Digital Concrete conference, ETH. Selected for the Istanbul-London architectural exchange program by Architecture Foundation, some of Kozikoğlu’s major projects are German Red Cross Hospital, Masterplan Works for Bakırköy Psychiatry Hospital, IU Hospitals feasibility study, 100-bed Kayseri Psychiatric Hospital. N. Ömer Saatcıoğlu played an important role in the design and construction of Turkey's first load-bearing straw bale building in Cumhuriyetköy, Istanbul. Saatcıoğlu has several papers, international presentations, and three patents; two of which are registered internationally, on straw bale construction and energy efficiency. His aim is to develop innovative and environmentally friendly straw bale panel designs suitable for the country's conditions.
Saatcıoğlu was a Visiting Researcher at the Center for Innovative Construction Materials (BRE CICM), Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, University of Bath, UK (2018). He performed tests on a new straw wall system he invented and prototyped. He has ongoing research on "breathing wall systems" that can be integrated with straw wall systems.
Saatcıoğlu's main research interests are straw bale design, green building systems and technologies, sustainability, ecological construction systems, ecological building materials, and "simplicity and complexity" in architecture.
She continues her architectural practice in urban and rural construction sites based on participatory process with various stakeholders and with the use of natural materials. From 2019 onwards, she provides trainings on natural building techniques - mostly related to material production and clay plaster painting, both at home and abroad, including the Balkans, and with Gaia Kosovo. Furthermore she is involved to ‘We're All Made of Mud’ Project that introduces natural materials to young people with Youth Exchange workshops.
Her specialization is on earthen plaster and tadelakt (lime based plaster). She acts as a technical and materials consultant of the Architecture for All Association fort he Post-Disaster Reconstruction Plan.
I am a graduate of technical high school and vocational school.
I entered the PVC and aluminum industry in 1995. Since 1998, I have been producing laminated wooden window and shutter systems, designed and produced by myself. I carry out projects at home and abroad with new building works and restoration of wooden works of old buildings.
He started to keep the first notes of this book with the intention of writing a blog because of the recent popularity of the topics of ecological architecture and natural life, which he has been talking about for years, and the fact that everyone is starting to build houses in nature on their own, problems such as application errors, lack of technical knowledge, resource book problems, and the pressures in his close circle. Over the past three years, he collected all the information he deemed necessary, from school grades to construction site conversations, from consultancy to workmanship. The blog idea turned into a book over time and the first comprehensive local study in Turkey was completed. He continues to live in pursuit of new experiences in his own countryside with his family.

He has created and co-thought TDUI: Trans-Disciplinary Urban Interventions - a prototype-forward research and design studio framework for a new type of urban transformation, one that is closer to acupuncture in its effect. Initiated at Istanbul Bilgi University, TDUI later moved to Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY.
İnanç is the creator and curator of “What’s Wrong With” - a panel and podcast series of discussions with progress makers and experts to diagnose problems in industries, ideate solutions and raise awareness among the general public. He is the co-creator of SOUR’s Carbon Calculator - an open calculator that measures the greenhouse gas impacts of construction activities in terms of carbon dioxide equivalency (CO2e). It does this by calculating the embodied carbon of constructed spaces and its supply chain activities during construction.
İnanç is currently an adjunct professor at New York Institute of Technology, teaching applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in urban design at graduate level. He is also a frequent Jury Critic at Pratt Institute, Parsons School Of Design, University Of Texas Arlington, Middle East Technical University, and Istanbul Technical University.
